Position Overview

We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable students to join our team as Market Assistants for our local farmer’s market. This role involves supporting the Market Manager with set-up and teardown of the market infrastructure and assisting vendors as needed. Additionally, there are opportunities to work with market vendors during market hours if desired.
Key Responsibilities

  • Market Setup:
    • Assist with the setup of tents, tent weights, tables with tablecloths, and chairs for vendors and musicians.
    • Ensure that all equipment is set up correctly and safely.
    • Help with placement and retrieval of signs placed throughout downtown Winnetka.
  • Vendor Assistance:
    • Help greet vendors and show them to their assigned vendor spaces.
    • Provide basic assistance to vendors as needed during the setup process.
  • Market Teardown:
    • Take down tents, tables, chairs, and other equipment at the end of the market day.
    • Move equipment to the designated storage area and ensure everything is stored properly.
  • Optional Vendor Work:
    • If interested, connect with market vendors who are seeking extra help during market hours.
Qualifications
  • Experience:
    • No prior experience is required; however, a willingness to learn and work as part of a team is essential.
  • Skills:
    • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving equipment.
    • Good communication skills and a friendly, helpful attitude.
    • Ability to work early hours and adapt to various weather conditions.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Reliable and punctual.
    • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
    • Available for all market dates through the rest of the final date of October, 26, 2024.
