Reports to: Township Administrator, takes direction from the Township Assessor

Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, Thursdays: 11:00 am - 7:00 pm,
occasionally attend meetings or events in the evening or on weekends.

Start Date: Late August-Early September 2024
Salary and Benefits:

Salary: $20.00/hr

Description of responsibilities: The Passport Acceptance Agent/Deputy Assessor position plays a key role in
Northfield Township’s commitment to serving every corner of our community in a friendly and professional
manner.

The ideal candidate possesses excellent customer service and organizational skills, along with strong attention
to detail and a positive and collaborative attitude.

This position supports two vital areas of the Northfield Township Government Office. The Passport
Acceptance Agent oversees all areas of our passport services from scheduling appointments, processing
applications, accepting payment and taking passport photos to maintaining passport records and ensuring the
facility compliance with all training and U.S. Department of State regulations. Additionally, this position
supports the Township Assessor’s Office in its role as a property taxpayer advocate and a resource for all
inquiries related to real property to residents visiting the Northfield Township Government office. Answering
questions and assisting property owners with property tax appeals, exemptions, updating and maintaining the
Assessor’s email distribution list and assisting with communications are just a few of the tasks.

The standout applicant would possess an associates degree or higher and one to three years of customer
service or general office administration experience.
  • In addition to excellent customer service, communication and organizational skills and strong attention to detail, candidates should have the ability to contribute successfully in a team setting, with strong computer skills and utilize their time with minimal oversight.
  • Bilingual in any of the following areas, Spanish, Korean, Russian, Mongolian or Ukrainian, a plus.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace and data entry.
  • Complete required US Department of State Passport training and maintain certification.
  • Must meet the federal eligibility guidelines for a Passport Acceptance Agent.
