Vivid Art Gallery First Friday Art Opening

Vivid Art Gallery is hosting a special exhibit featuring work by a selected group of gallery artists during the month of December. Entitled Winter Salon, the show highlights pieces that reflect the changing seasons and the coming winter. Specifically, the work of six artists will be on display: Matt Schaefer, Anne Smith Stephan, Lainey Peltier, Angela Saxon, Julie Cowan, and Sue Jacoby. On the First Friday of the month, December 1^st, the gallery will be hosting an opening for the exhibit from 5-7 PM.
 
As the show’s title suggests, the show is filled with a variety of different types of art. These artists work in different media and with different color palettes. Work included ranges in subject matter from abstract expressionism to landscapes to charming bird monotypes. The exhibit also includes both large and smaller works, including work as small as 8 x 10 inches.                  
 
More broadly, the work in the exhibit also reflects natural changes. For example, the work of Matt Schaefer, Sue Jacoby, and Angela Saxon in the exhibit are full of color and represent the changing seasons, whether the beauty of Fall or the blossoming of Spring while work by Anne Smith Stephan, Lainey Peltier, and Julie Cowan are a bit more subdued and indicative of the soon arriving winter. 
 
As artist Lainey Peltier states, “My work is often influenced by the seasons. The work in this exhibit reflects the calm and serenity that is often present during the winter season. My work is also impacted by the season during which I create it, as the natural surroundings at a given time are reflected in my color palette.” The influence of nature permeates the art in the exhibit, allowing a variety of shapes, forms, and subject matter to present themselves in this show.  
 
Beyond the main exhibit, the gallery will be offering a “Holiday Shop,” which will consist of small paintings, and both hand-blown glass and ceramic bowls and vases.
