Vivid Art Gallery First Friday Art Opening
Vivid Art Gallery will host an art opening for Featured Artist Allison Svoboda on Friday, April 4th. The event is open to all and is free of charge. Allison will be at the gallery to discuss her work and will be giving an artist talk at 6:00 PM. In addition to great art, there will be refreshments served at the gallery.
Allison’s ethereal watercolor work on paper is reflective of what she experiences in the world around her, particularly in nature. Filled with intricate patterns and soothing blues, these paintings reflect forms that she finds in nature, which have an instinctive draw for her. The theory of fractal geometry; infinite layers of self-similar shapes repeated in every living thing, hold an endless fascination for Allison. Her work is done on site, where she sits in quiet contemplation in a place of natural beauty, often on the shore of Lake Michigan. The result is paintings that ooze with color, calmness, and serenity. Once fully in touch with her surroundings, Allison begins her mark making. Using natural elements; wind, water, salt, sticks even her own breath to move the ink, Allison creates large scale topographic paintings based on these marks often created with what seems like mother nature’s alchemy.
In addition to her paintings at the gallery, Allison is currently displaying other work in an exhibit at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in Chicago through October 5th. The art in that show is inspired by butterflies, flowers, and mushrooms from the Chicago Academy of Sciences natural history collections.
Allison Svoboda’s work will be on display throughout the month of April. Please stop by the gallery during the month to see her beautiful, unique exhibit.
