D’Angelo will be presenting her newest work in her exhibit entitled Painting the Town. As the name suggests, her exhibit will consist of works depicting the city of Chicago. Discussing the inspiration for her newest body of work, she says, “In this group of paintings, my goal has been to explore the interplay of light and architecture, capturing the essence of quintessential Chicago. The city’s iconic structures serve as subject and canvas, transforming under the shifting illumination of day and night. Whether painting reflections on Lake Michigan as the sun dips behind the skyscrapers and the city lights blink on, or shadows cast by the buildings on busy Michigan Avenue on a sunny day, it is always light and its effects that inspire me. Using rich, vibrant color, I aim to convey not just the physical beauty of Chicago, but also the emotions it evokes.”
Jane begins her process by taking a photograph, and then creates her work by painting continually, with each layer added in succession before they have a chance to dry, allowing her to blend colors together on the canvas. In describing her work, Jane says, “I am an impressionist landscape painter, and it is always light and its effects, subtle or dramatic, that inspire me. Each of my paintings represents a moment in time when light influences colors, values and shapes in a captivating way.”
Jane’s newest work will be up throughout the month of November. Please stop by the gallery during the month to see her exhibit.Date and Time
