Northfield, Illinois — The League of Women Voters of Winnetka–Northfield–Kenilworth invites community members to its annual Spring Luncheon & Lecture on Thursday, April 30, featuring keynote speaker Arne Duncan and participants from Chicago CRED, a leading anti-gun violence organization dedicated to supporting individuals at highest risk through an integrated, community-based approach.
The event will take place from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the North Shore Senior Center, located at 161 Northfield Road in Northfield. The program will begin promptly at 11:30 AM.
Arne Duncan served as U.S. Secretary of Education from 2009 to 2015 under President Barack Obama and previously led Chicago Public Schools as its Chief Executive Officer. He is the founder of Chicago CRED, where he now focuses on reducing gun violence by investing in individuals and communities most affected.
This timely conversation will explore innovative strategies to address gun violence in the Chicago region, focusing on prevention, intervention, and long-term community support. Chicago CRED works intensively with individuals most at risk of gun involvement, providing trauma-informed services, education, job training, and mentorship to create pathways to stability and opportunity.
