Anne Loucks Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of a solo exhibition of photography by Omaha artist Laurie Victor Kay. The exhibition includes twelve of the artist’s large-scale photographs representing her spectacular Tree, Kaleidoscope, Graffiti and Musee series. The show will be on view from May 1 - June 10th in our Winnetka gallery at 564 Lincoln Avenue. Please join us for an Artist Talk and Reception to celebrate the show on Wednesday, May 8th from 5 – 7 pm.

Laurie Victor Kay’s work depicts places, settings, and natural elements that she finds especially intriguing and moving. With a background in painting, she infuses her images of trees, parks, and grand interiors with a distinct eye for color and light. In each of her compositions, Laurie plays with our sense of perspective and perfection, as she blurs the lines between photography, painting, culture, and digital media. Motion and movement, architectural form and detail, and dramatic sculptural elements all play a part in her work. In her Tree series, she meticulously splits and rejoins branches, trunks and leaves to create an image driven by her artistic vision. In her series of ornate French interiors, she combines brilliant color and light with a kaleidoscope effect created with mathematical precision. In her Graffiti series, she depicts Parisian street art in a highly charged grid composition. Each of the photographs in the exhibition illustrates her emotional connection to the work, along with her boundless creative energy and vision.
