Everything Is Going to Be OK: An Evening with Georgia Garvey
The Book Stall (811 Elm Street in Winnetka) welcomes award-winning writer Georgia Garvey to the store on Thursday, January 18 at 6:30 pm for a discussion featuring her book, Everything Is Going to Be OK (Until It's Not). Georgia Garvey’s essays have run in publications across the country, and now, nearly two years’ worth of her syndicated columns have been collected here in her book.
This event is free with registration, please visit our website or CLICK HERE to register.
More About the Book: Georgia Garvey's essays run the gamut of topics, ranging from the exact age at which a woman becomes over the hill (just ask Don Lemon) to how to get kids interested in Greek Easter (hint: you can’t). The works’ cast of characters include leprechauns and Elves on the Shelves, Santa Claus and a pet parrot that only communicates through Portuguese curse words. There’s even a special Christmas cookie recipe just for harried parents. With humor, heart, and honesty, this book takes you on a raucous ride through the life of a Midwestern mom, wife, and writer who’s just trying to make sense of it all.
More About the Author: Georgia Garvey is a former newspaper reporter and editor whose work has run in the Chicago Tribune, The L.A. Times, The Boston Globe and the Pioneer Press, among others. She now works as a writer and editor out of a fantastic old house in Illinois that her husband (who has to fix everything) likes a lot less than she does. Georgia is a first-generation Greek immigrant, a factoid of which she is certain to inform you within five minutes of sitting down next to her. Her column, distributed by Creators Syndicate, runs in publications across the country. Georgia has won several awards for her column-writing and is certain that, were awards granted for the parenting of two small children, she would have gotten at least an honorable mention there as well. Honestly, shouldn’t we all?
