Recipe For Change Fall Fundraiser to be Held at Tocco
Featuring Oliv Blu from The Voice
Gala at fine Italian restaurant will support life changing career skills for Cook County inmates
On Monday, October 4th at 5:30pm, Recipe for Change will be hosting its annual gala at Tocco Restaurant located at 507 Chestnut Street in Winnetka. Performing at the gala will be Oliv Blu. Oliv Blu is a singer-songwriter who was featured on season 16 of NBC’s The Voice. She is also a music instructor for Recipe for Change. The gala will be an open-air Italian style block party with delicious food and drink courtesy of Tocco and a silent auction featuring prizes including a trip to Italy and many pieces of original art created by Recipe for Change program participants.
Recipe for Change was founded by Chef Bruno Abate to provide mentoring and guidance for detainees in the Cook County Jail through culinary, fine arts, and life skills training while reinforcing the value of work and personal responsibility. Over the years, with the support of the community and in partnership with the Cook County Sheriff’s office, Recipe for Change has grown into a full workforce development program and so much more. The culinary program includes formal cooking and sanitation instruction and an internship experience. The Fine Arts programs includes music production, sound mixing and an art studio where students can express their creativity. Our future goals include establishing a vegetable garden and launching a food truck to enhance our internship experience.
