A Place for Rain: An After-School Storytime with Michelle Schaub

The Book Stall (811 Elm Street in Winnetka) is delighted to welcome award-winning children's author Michelle Schaub to the store on Wednesday, April 24 at 4:00 pm for an after-school story time featuring her new nonfiction title, A Place for Rain. A spring storm brings the chance to build a rain garden in this charming and actionable picture book about protecting our waterways. Ms. Schaub will be happy to sign her works! This book is perfect for kids ages 4-8.

More About the Book: Pitter-patter, splutter-splatter, drizzle turns to roar…DOWNPOUR! But where do all those raindrops go? Dirty stormwater runoff can cause big problems, polluting rivers, ponds, and waterways, so this classroom plans and builds a rain garden. They collect excess water in barrels, create paths for waterflow with stones and bricks, and plant native flowers and grasses that help the water percolate and invite wildlife to feed and pollinate.

More About the Author: Michelle Schaub is an award-winning children’s author and veteran teacher. Her book Fresh-Picked Poetry: A Day at the Farmers’ Market won the 2018 Growing Good Kids Award and the 2019 Northern Lights Book Award. She is also the author of Finding Treasure: A Collection of Collections, an NCTE notable poetry book for 2020, and Dream Big, Little Scientists. Her poems appear in several anthologies, including The Poetry Anthology for Celebrations and Great Morning!
