Here are New Trier Township Food Pantry facts WIN obtained from the Township:\n\n \n\n * About 100 households\, or just over 200 people\, currently use the pantry. This number has DOUBLED since 2008.\n\n \n\n * Consequently NTT has reduced use-per-family from 1x a week to 2x a month\, and placed a 2-bag limit on\n\n quantity.\n\n \n\n * Contrary to myth\, the homeless do not use the pantry. Users must have a township address and incomes less than 200% of the poverty level or $24\,000 per year.\n\n \n\n * People in every village in the township are using the pantry.\n\n \n\n * Those who need the pantry often are struggling with one or more of the following: Displacement (job loss)\,\n\n Disability and Disease\, Divorce\, Death\, Desertion\, Domestic Violence\, and Drugs and Alcohol.\n\n \n\n As the area's premier advocate for fair & affordable housing\, the Housing Center can attest to the fact that area homeowners and tenants alike are cash-strapped and many are barely a paycheck away from foreclosure or eviction. \n\n \n\n Please feel free to drop by non-perishable foods or paper goods to the Housing Center's office\, 614 Lincoln Ave.\, between October 22 ("Make A Difference Day") through November 23 (the day before Thanksgiving).\n\n \n\n Thank you!
