SUMMARY:Vivid Art Gallery First Friday Art Opening
DESCRIPTION:Vivid Art Gallery is hosting an exhibit for featured artist Debra Delbecq and her newest collection of work\, "Entwined Landscapes\," throughout the month of October. On Friday\, October 3rd\, the gallery will have an opening for Debra's abstract landscape work\, for which she will be in attendance. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet Debra and discuss her work with her during the event\, which will run from 4 to 7 PM. \n\n \n\nDescribing her process\, Debra says\, "My work is always about what is going on around me. My studio is on the second floor of my 1860s brick farmhouse. It's up high and overlooks my vegetable and flower garden\, so from there I have an aerial view of my land. I can easily observe changes such as growth\, blankets of snow\, the wind\, the rain and even sounds. For example\, a few years ago a huge flock of geese had landed and were feasting in the field. I heard them\; it sounded so loud. Happenings like this are how I record moments on canvas\; I generally use rhythm and repetition as my tools to give the painting energy and excitement."\n\n \n\nIn her work\, Debra use of color is influenced by her time teaching photography and color theory. This experience sharpened her knowledge of how hues interact and why she would see tones differently from her brush to the canvas. Further discussing color in her work\, she says\, "Painting is about the collision of colors and that's why I love to paint. It's never boring\, you just have endless options. I do want color to speak first along with the other elements of art\, which include line\, shape and texture. Honestly\, reading color is such a personal thing. We all see it differently and with different emotional reactions." \n\n \n\nShe describes each piece in this newest exhibit as a quilted conversation\, a way of taking the disparate questions and feeling of a given moment and mingling them with inspiration from the outside world and the work of those who came before. The synthesis creates a new form\, an imagined cosmic map or quilt on paper that coheres these disparate pieces into a grounding\, geometrical structure.\n\n \n\nOn October 3rd\, in addition to the opening at Vivid\, the Hubbard Woods Design will be hosting its annual "Art Walk\," during which participating businesses have extended business hours\, feature promotions and libations\, and host the work of a local artist. The event will also include live music throughout the district. \n\n \n\nDebra's work will be exhibited in the gallery throughout October. Please be sure to stop by on First Friday or during the month to see it! To learn more about this and future exhibits\, please visit our events page: https://vividartgallery.net/events.
