SUMMARY:The Meaningful Modern Home: An Evening with Celeste Robbins
DESCRIPTION:The Book Stall (811 Elm Street in Winnetka) is delighted to host architect\, author\, and North Shore resident Celeste Robbins on Tuesday\, March 5 at 6:30 pm for an in-store discussion of her new book\, The Meaningful Modern Home: Soulful Architecture and Interiors. Ms. Robbins's debut monograph illustrates her firm's holistic vision\, which integrates architecture\, interior design\, and landscape. Featuring nine significant projects located across the United States\, the residences all offer living proof of how modernism can be warm and rooted in a vivid sense of place. \n\n \n\nThis event is free with registration. To register\, please visit our website or CLICK HERE.\n\n \n\nMore About the Book: Principal architect and founder of Robbins Architecture\, Celeste Robbins proves that contemporary design can be inviting\, comfortable\, and graciously responsive to how we live. As a student at Cornell University\, she found inspiration in the work of modernist architects whose designs embodied their philosophies for modern living. Later\, as she settled into her architecture career in Chicago\, she married the design principles she had learned with her own developing philosophy around what makes a welcoming and warm family dwelling. These stunning residences feature broad windows that bring the landscape in\, open plans that create central gathering places for families and friends\, and natural materials that glow with patina and life. \n\n \n\nEach chapter in the book is dedicated to a specific project and reflects on a particular concept that creates modernism with meaning. As Ms. Robbins writes in her thoughtful introduction\, "Balanced among these principles is something that typically goes unnoticed: the unseen rigor and resolution threaded through these homes. Precise alignments and thoughtful sequences guide you through a house like architectural choreography leading you along repeated paths that over time bring resonance to the space."\n\n \n\nMore About the Author: Celeste Robbins is the principal of Robbins Architecture\, a Chicago-based architectural firm specializing in residential work. The firm's projects have been featured in numerous publications such as Architectural Digest and Luxe Interiors + Design and have garnered several AIA awards\, the Sub-Zero Kitchen Design Contest\, and Luxe Red Award. A graduate of Cornell University\, her work has become known for its modern livability\, warmth\, and timeless beauty.
