SUMMARY:COMMUNINTY EVENT New Trier Township Accepting Nominations Community Spirit Award
DESCRIPTION:New Trier Township is currently accepting nominations for the George E. Noyes Community Spirit Award\, which recognizes outstanding Township volunteers who are making a powerful difference in their communities in ways that support the Township's mission. Nominees should be seen as an inspiration to others through their volunteerism. The award\, established in 2006\, honors the memory of Township resident George E. Noyes who served as Township Collector from 2002 until 2006. Mr. Noyes was a tireless worker and an active participant in civic engagements during his lifetime. In his memory\, the award is designed to honor those who demonstrate that same spirit of service\, citizenship and responsibility.\n\n\n\nAn eligible nominee must be a Township resident who has made volunteerism and community service a way of life. That person must exemplify the best in volunteerism and demonstrate a sense of caring and responsibility for others that connects citizens. Additionally\, the nominee must have displayed a strong commitment to addressing a community need. If a resident knows an extraordinary individual who has given freely and unselfishly of their time to community activities over the past year\, the Township encourages that person to complete an application on his or her behalf.\n\n\n\nThe annual nomination process is now open and runs through Friday\, March 1. Nomination forms can be picked up at the Township Office at 739 Elm Street in Winnetka or downloaded from the website at www.newtriertownship.com. Completed forms may be returned to Patricia Cantor\, Township Supervisor via mail or by fax to 847.446.1743. The Township Supervisor reviews all nominations and makes recommendations to the Township Board of Trustees who have final approval of the award recipients. Winners and their families will be invited to attend the Annual Town Meeting on Tuesday\, April 16 at which the winners will be presented with a distinctive plaque. Recipients will also be profiled in Township communication materials to constituents.\n\n\n\nTo be eligible for the George E. Noyes Community Spirit Award\, an individual's volunteerism must have had a powerful impact in his community in ways that support the mission of New Trier Township\, which is to provide leadership\, advocacy and resources to benefit the physical\, mental and social well-being of Township residents.
